Obituary of Nadine Petty
Nadine Gresham (Sorensen) Petty born at the family home near Karval, Colorado by her grandmother, to Carl and Lela (Gresham) Sorensen the fourth of six children, a brother Carl and sisters Ethel, Bernice, Lucille and Carolyn.
She passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at New Dawn Memory Care in Colorado Springs,
Nadine attended grade school at Green Knoll and Blue Cliff and attended high school in Karval, graduating in May of 1945.
She married Arthur (A.T.) Petty Jr. on November 23, 1946 in Ordway, Colorado. Born to this union was a son Floyd and daughters; Shirley and Lois.
Nadine was a homemaker, raised a big garden and canned the produce, and she would help with the farming whenever needed.
She moved with her husband to North Platte, Nebraska, in the fall of 1975, then in January of 1978 to Dodge City, Kansas, where her husband’s work took them.
She was a member of the Blue Cliff Methodist Church , the First United Methodist Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1714 both of Dodge City, Kansas and for a few years was a member of the Kansas Genealogical Society of Dodge City, Kansas. Nadine loved her family and being a helpmate to her husband Arthur.
Nadine loved to play cards, work crossword and word search puzzle books.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Petty; parents Carl and Lela Sorensen; siblings; Ethel Stogsdill, Carl Sorensen, Bernice Kravig and Carolyn Whisman.
Nadine is survived by three children; Floyd (Eileen) Petty, Shirley Chesterman and Lois (Tom) Crandall, three grandchildren; Deann (Petty) Barnett, Adam Chesterman and Natalie (Crandall) Jensen. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Joshua and Brenna Barnett, one sister Lucille Ansley and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A service will be held for Nadine on December 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Day Church of the Nazarene in Karval, Colorado. Address for New Day Church of the Nazarene is 28965 County Rd S, in Karval Colorado. Burial will follow at the Karval Community Cemetery in Karval Colorado.
